Cover Letter Sample -- For the Corporate Flight Attendant

Writing a cover letter to send with your résumé can be both confusing and frustrating. What exactly should you say? Are you saying too much? Are you only speaking about your needs vs. The company's needs? Oh, what to do! In this "short" piece, I will list some ideas on how to craft your cover letter. I have also provided some important links -- for supplementary assistance -- particularly if you find yourself still needing face help.

Basics

Letterhead

* Make sure you use exactly the same type of paper you use for your résumé. White with white is best, company paper is strongly advised, especially paper containing 100% cotton. Cheap 20 lb. Copier paper is a terrible idea!

* A matching company envelope #10 is acceptable. Tri-fold your copies separately; when you place the cover letter inside the envelope, make sure that the letter is shown first [when you lift the flap of the envelope up] followed by your résumé. Fold it so that your name and palpate facts is the first thing the recruiter sees. If you pick to use a kraft envelope make sure that is no smaller than 9x12 or bigger than 10x13. Place an entertaining computer generated label on it with your return address shown appropriately. If you must write on it, Print your facts and do not be fancy. Remember: you want the post office and the company's mailroom to be able to read what you wrote! Otherwise, important time may be lost in the process.

* If you are emailing your facts make sure that the job listing stipulates that attachments are okay. If not, don't you dare send attachments! Instead, within the body of an email message you can write your cover letter [a brief introduction] and then cut and paste your résumé. I cannot tell you how many files never get read when the someone does not do as instructed. You can also supervene up and mail in a hard [paper] copy if an address is provided.

Beginnings

* Match the header on your résumé with the header on your cover letter. They can and do get separated! An example header should look like this:

Jane Doe

14 Star Lane

Smithville, Nc 27777 Usa

Telephone: 919-555-1212

Cell Phone: 919-555-1213

Email: jdoe@nc.rrs.com

* include your personal website address only if that facts is valuable. If you host a site that is weird, inflammatory, adult oriented, or otherwise controversial, simply do not expect any response from the company.

* Put today's date on the cover letter.

* Next, include your contact's information, which can include:

Ms. Ellen Snow

Human Resources Coordinator

FlyByNight Aviation, Inc.

1234 Orville Wright Lane

Serendipity, Nc 27776

* Your salutation comes next and should look like this

-- Dear Ms. Snow:

Body

* Keep in mind that your cover letter must not be lengthy. You can say all that must be said in no more than three, maybe four, brief paragraphs.

* Here is a sample:

Attached, please find a copy of my résumé for your review. I am interested in the position of corporate flight attendant listed online at http://www.flybynight.com.

I believe my three years of international flying palpate along with my culinary background and language skills makes me the ideal candidate to serve FlyByNight's qualified clientele. Currently, I work as an independent undertaker of a package deal and have flown to top destinations in Europe as well as throughout the U.S. And Canada. FlyByNight's need for a dependable, trained, and very experienced team player is exactly the type of position I desire.

I look transmit to meeting with you in someone to discuss your particular needs and how I can help FlyByNight successfully carry out its mission as the best operator of inexpressive jets in the world. Feel free to palpate me at your earliest convenience; I can be reached at 919-555-1212 or by on cell phone at 919-555-1213.

Byes

* Sincerely,

Jane Doe

Leave 3-4 lines from your "Sincerely" to your name. Your closing shouldn't include other words including Regards [too plain], Cheers! [too British], Love [too personal], etc. Remember, this is a company letter.

In summation, keep it short and specific. Have three or four main points you can emphasize about your strengths, particularly, those points which match with the points listed by the company in their job details. In this particular case the candidate emphasized her culinary, language, and international trip experience, as well as her availability. All four points were stressed in the company's job listing which read:

"...international jet operator is searching for an experienced cabin attendant. This position involves serving our on demand rent clients from east coast locations to destinations in the U.S. And abroad. Must have exceptional food aid skills. Current training with Facts, FlightSafety or similar training vendor; French or Spanish language skills: a plus...

You cannot avoid talking about yourself, but you can control how you talk about yourself.

Do not...

1. ...beg for an interview.

2. ...mention money or benefits. If the job listing "demands" that you list your wage requirements, simply state that wage is negotiable.

3. ...overly boast about your skills: think about what the company's needs are, do you think they care that you were the recipient of an Nbaa scholarship? It is, however, okay to list scholarship awards on your résumé.

4. ...name drop. Unless, you already come very recommended by someone they know and like. Your mentor may be well known in this industry, but not universally liked. You can use them on your list of references, however.

Tying it all together, this is what your cover letter could look like:

Jane Doe

14 Star Lane

Smithville, Nc 27777 Usa

Telephone: 919-555-1212

Cell Phone: 919-555-1213

Writing business Letters - Tutorial 1: Letter Format

Everyone in firm needs to write letters. It's clear if you want to run your firm or just stay in touch with your suppliers and clients. How well ... Or not so well ... You write reflects on you and your business. Write poorly constructed letters with unprofessional layout and format and you will look like a rank amateur, no matter how good you are at plumbing, cooking or whatever it is you do.

If you are a seasoned letter writer who has completed a firm transportation course, this series of articles is probably not for you. It will help, however, if you haven't been educated in transportation skills. You will be able to enhance your writing very fast just by following a few easy rules.

Letterhead

Letter Format

The easiest, quickest and most efficient letter format is known as "full block" or plainly "Block". A block letter has all its text left justified ie, there are no indents. This method is very favorite because it is easy to produce. Here's an example using Australian address formats - modify it for your own country:

Parker Morgan Finnigan

Lawyers

Po Box 2345

Sydney Nsw 2000

29 October 2010

Ms Janette Jameison

Po Box 34687

North Sydney Nsw 2005

Dear Ms Jameison

Contract With Acme Finance Corporation

I refer to our old correspondence requesting a copy of the compact between you and Acme Finance Corporation.

If you do not contribute us with a copy of the primary contract, I'm afraid we will not be able to act on your behalf. We need the compact to accurately collate the claims you have made and to interrogate legal staff from Acme Finance Corporation.

Please send us a copy of the compact at the earliest so we can get this matter under way.

Yours sincerely

Parker Johannson

Principal Legal Consultant

Parker Morgan Finnigan

Whether you use Letter or Iso A4 paper, this format looks good and saves time. Your paper needs to have a border all round of 2.5cm (1") and you should endeavour to place the total content of the letter so that it is symmetrical on the page ie, don't have more text in the top half of the page than on the bottom half. A balance of black and white and good position on the page makes the letter look good.

You'll see that there is no punctuation except within the body of the letter. This is called 'open punctuation' because the text is open where punctuation doesn't add significantly to the reader's understanding of the letter.

Using Letterheads

Some letterheads I see are poorly designed. While they look good from a graphics and colour perspective, the flow between logo and letters is poor eg, when you run your eye down the left column, there is no, or poor alignment between text and letterhead elements.

If you compose a letterhead page that is left or right justified, compose it so that the left most portion of the letterhead graphic or text is 2.5cm (1") in from the left or right sides. The best compose is one that is centered on the page. This is because it doesn't 'force' a right or left margin allowing users to set margins of any width that still appear balanced on the page. When you have a short letter you can bring your left and right margin in a miniature to make the text area look larger.

Tutorial two of this series discusses the parts of a letter.

Authorization Letter - Sample Letters and Tips

There are many kinds of authorization letter. They are used in many situations, but principally to give permissions, approvals and to delegate responsibility. You can write it to authorize a payment, to give a permission whether to do or to use something. If part of an organization, you could need it for a study or report, or to attend a discussion or conference. This letter can also be produced to have entrance to single files and information. They are very leading in business. It can also be used to authorize man to act on your profit when, for instance, you are ill, far away or unable to attend a meeting. Another tasteless use of this type of letter is for curative or financial instructions and releases. You may need to write it for curative purposes: for example to have curative records released or to let man else obtain your exams. Or, with a bank, to allow a specific man to do single operations on your behalf. It is always better to print it on your business letterhead, as it regularly is a formal document.

But the format changes depending on the circumstances and the target. Obviously you can find templates on the internet but there are many books dedicated to this topic containing all the critical instructions and surface all the situations to originate a well formatted authorization letter. First of all, it is critical that you state clearly what you want or do not want, avoiding any doubt or confusion. It is also fundamental that you use the sufficient language to the situation, and that you give all the critical instructions and details. For example a legal document has a very separate language from a scientific one, so it is critical that the receiver understands the full meaning of the article and, above all, the intention of the letter. An authorization letter can have separate purposes from business or pro ones. It can be used in schools as well as in daily life.

Letterhead

When you write (or receive) this kind of letter, you must be sure that all the identification data are correct, clear and doubtless. Pay always attention: it is legally valid only if signed. Basically, it must always be clear and doubtless for the reader/receiver what to do, when to do and how the reader can accomplish the task. Every detail has to be covered. Especially if there is a deadline to be respected. The more explicit it is, less later corrections are needed. They may also be required to let man else, or an organization, to pick up your passport, or any other personal document. Some authorities need an authorization letter to allow you to live and work in their country. So, do not forget to effect all the step detailed to write an authorization letter by yourself or to check the validity of one that you receive. Remember to pay always a great concentration to the right format and grammar. And, if requested, to write it on a letterhead paper.

Writing A Thank You For Referral Letter

It is good company etiquette to thank the customers who have helped you get more company straight through referrals. If you want to keep these prominent customers loyal to you, it is a good idea to send them a sincere 'thank you for your referral' letter. This is done to let these customers know that you truly appreciate their recommendation, and that you value your relationship with them.

Here are 7 quick tips on how to write an productive "thank you for your referral" letter:

Letterhead

1. Try to write as clearly and naturally as possible. Be brief and avoid using flowery and long winded words and phrases.

2. Be as sincere as inherent in your 'thank you' letter. If you don't, your customers will nothing else but detect your lack of sincerity. If there's one thing worse than not sending a 'thank you' letter, it's sending an insincere one.

3. Learn to stick to the point. Keep your letters short and sweet. Don't start diverting to other topics. Basically, just get straight to the point as soon as you can. Your letter should not be longer than a consolidate of paragraphs.

4. Write the 'thank you' letter as soon as you can after getting the referral. Preferably, your 'thank you' letter should reach the person within 24 hours. Also, do not thank the person in advance. (eg "thank you in advance for your help")

5. Use A-Grade paper for your letter. If the thank you letter is meant for a company partner, then remember use a customized letterhead. In a less formal situation, you may select to use email instead. This is useful if you want your letters to reach your customers fast, although it isn't as effective. Snail mail is the best, so please use it whenever you can. It's worth the extra effort.

6. Make sure that you check for any grammatical errors or typos. If you fail to do so, you letter will look sloppy and extremely unprofessional.

7. Address your 'thank you' letter to the exact person, and not to the company or to the assosication in general.

Now that you have understood these tips, here's an example of how you can draft out a 'thank you for your referral' letter.

How to Write a Letter From Santa (That the Kids Will Love)

Parents, grandparents, other relatives and friends can give the big guy a hand by writing a letter from "Santa" themselves, or by customizing a letter found on the Internet or in print.

You don't have to be a professional writer, or even know Santa personally, to write a letter in his name. Following are a few tips on how to write and gift a keepsake letter from Santa to the extra child in your life.

Letterhead

First, conclude what type of "voice" you want Santa to gift in the letter. Do you want a short note or a long letter? Would you like Santa to reference the birth of Christ? possibly you'd like to mix things up a bit and have the letter be from Mrs. Claus, Rudolph the reindeer or elves.

Santa has a good sense of humor, so don't hesitate to comprise a join of small jokes, such as, "I hope my reindeer didn't wake you up landing on the roof." However, with the potential irregularity of older children who can take a joke, a Santa letter is not the time to scold a child or throw out threats, such as no presents if children are "naughty."

Include specifics in the letter from Santa, but don't go overboard. (Santa comes with a small "mystery," and kids know this.) Children love to hear that Santa enjoyed the cookies they left, or that he remembers them from the shopping center. Praise for a child's accomplishments (working hard at school, patience with siblings, etc.) during the year could be nice to add. If the child wrote a letter, Santa should acknowledge that he got it and possibly acknowledge any questions posed in the letter.

Most importantly, write from the heart. If you're having trouble getting started, take a look at an existing letter from Santa and customize it to suit your family. You might want to mention the family pets, or alleviate concerns about not having a chimney. Mention how Santa is finding transmit to the visit, even though the child will be fast asleep.

"Santa" might want to remind children to get to bed early on Christmas Eve, and to remember that the holiday is about love, family or anyone your family's trust theory is.

Whether handwriting, typing or printing the letter from Santa, it's best to use quality, holiday-themed stationery. Stationery and letterhead is available to print for free online. Be sure to "sign" the letter as Santa, Santa Claus or S. Claus.

Once you have the letter from Santa written, you can send it to the child in the mail or just leave it out on Christmas Eve after the children are asleep. You could set it by the cookies that were left for Santa (be sure to take a bite out of a cookie!). Or, roll the letter up like a scroll, tie with a ribbon and place it in a Christmas stocking.

Whatever letter style or delivery method you choose, don't stress! Any child will be thrilled to get a personal letter from Santa.

Tenant Reference Letter - How Beneficial is This?

Avoid bad tenant problems by reaching out to professional tenant reference checks done. The root cause for all your rented house problems lies in the tenant. You should take utmost care to choose the right tenant for the right house. Sample reference letters will aid you in your endeavor. Some of the tenant assessors will not only place your property ads on several high traffic web sites but they also assess a potential tenant. There are certain basic and comprehensive checks carried out.

What happens in case landlord does not consider any tenant assessments?

He can not only have a bad tenant, but at the same time he would be putting his valuable contents and building at stake. You will have to bear the expenses of any mishandling of items by your tenant. And his one month's rent taken as a deposit will not be sufficient to cover up the damages caused.

Rightful selection of tenant can be done only with tenant assessment. You are left with two choices here, you can carry it out you self or reach out professional tenant assessors' help. In case you do it your self, it might be time consuming and you may not always arrive at accurate results. A professional will have information about different tenants, credit report agencies - from whom they collect the credit scores of a tenant. They carry out employer's reference check in addition to his previous landlord's reference check.

Basic reference check

Comprehensive reference check

If you don't have time, then, you can opt for a basic check of your potential tenant. This includes personal information check, financial standing, eviction reports, criminal records. This can be carried out with in 24 hours of time. This enables you to reduce void periods.

On the other hand, a comprehensive reference check, will offer you employer's reference check and previous landlord's reference check in addition to the basic check services. This will take longer, but provides an in depth report of your tenant and helps to vet out your tenant rightly. Check for your tenant background information, is he a drug addict, a terrorist. If not you may put your property at stake and your rental income will also be at risk.
